The Postgraduate teaching at the department is spread over a period of three years and culminates with the award of a MD Degree in Pharmacology from the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences Faridkot.
The department takes in three to four postgraduate students per year on the basis of merit from amongst the students who clear the Postgraduate Entrance Examination conducted every year by the university.
The students undergo training in various aspects of Experimental, and Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics. Each student has to complete a thesis project during his tenure before he/she becomes eligible to appear in the examination at the end of three years. Postgraduates of the department are actively involved in various clinical studies and are required to participate in undergraduate teaching assignments on a regular basis. Regular seminars and journal clubs are an integral part of the teaching curriculum at the department.
The students of this department have gone on to occupy research positions in the pharmaceutical industry as well as faculty posts in various medical colleges across India.
